Kevin Moeller, MA, LCSW
Executive Director

Kevin Moeller is a licensed social worker that has been working in Santa Fe and Rio Arriba’s communities since 1999. He has a background in wilderness therapy, multi-systemic therapy, and individual and family therapy. He is passionate about equity issues around race and social justice and engages with this in all of his work.

Montserrat Oceguera, LCSW
Board Member

Montserrat Oceguera is a trauma informed, Licensed Clinical Social Worker who obtained her degree from New Mexico Highlands University with a concentration in Bilingual/Bicultural practice. She is trained in different systemic and behavioral models such as, multi-systemic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and family systems therapy. She is also trained in Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance and commitment therapy. She implements an integrative eclectic approach to adapt the unique needs and goals of each client. She utilizes a strength based, client-centered, and solution focused approach to support individuals maximize their potential and meet their desired goals. Montserrat is experienced in conducting therapy with diverse clients, both in English and Spanish, and is passionate to serve the Latinx community and promote equity. She also has experience in comprehensive community support services, both as a case manager, and clinical supervisor. She currently oversees a team of 14 case managers.

Steven Romero
Treasurer

Steven Romero is the Chief Financial Officer for Conservation Voters New Mexico overseeing budget and finance, human resources, fundraising, and culture and equity initiatives. Steven is a first-generation college student and received both his Bachelors of Business Administration and Masters of Business Administration from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM where he was born and grew up. He has worked for both New Mexico State University, and the University of New Mexico in various business administration capacities in addition to Los Alamos National Laboratory. Steven is passionate about supporting New Mexico's rural and underserved communities and connecting them to the resources they need. In his spare time, Steven enjoys hiking, camping, and spending time outdoors.

Monique Garcia, LCSW
Therapist

Stephanie Monique Garcia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving clients across northern New Mexico. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Spanish from the University of New Mexico and her Master of Social Work with an Advanced Generalist focus on Southwestern Culture from New Mexico State University. In 2022, she completed her MBA at the University of New Mexico.

With nearly two decades of experience in the nonprofit sector, Monique specializes in supporting individuals and families affected by intergenerational trauma, substance use, and incarceration. She contributed to the development of key programs, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) groups, community outreach initiatives, psychiatric support services, telehealth programs, and home-based care.

In her role, she supports staff, advocates for patient needs, and leads community outreach, focusing on expanding access to mental health and substance use treatment. She also provides crisis intervention for individuals and families facing complex life challenges.

Derek Rugsaken, LPCC
Board Member

Derek Rugsaken, LPCC is a Clinical Services Administrator for Presbyterian Medical Services, overseeing 3 behavioral health clinics in northern New Mexico. He has worked for over 8 years serving northern New Mexican communities, first as a direct service provider and now as a clinical leader. He brings a passion and commitment to providing the highest-quality services to underserved communities through direct services and effective collaboration with community stakeholders. He currently lives with his three children in Santa Fe, with whom he enjoys cooking and exploring local natural wonders.

Stephanie Medina, LCSW
Board Chair

Stephanie received her master's degree with a concentration in Bilingual/Bicultural practice from New Mexico Highlands University. She is a clinical supervisor for Southwest Family Guidance Center. She oversees a Multisystemic Therapy team and Multisystemic Problem Sexual Behavior team in Northern New Mexico and Las Cruces. Additionally, Stephanie supervises a clinical licensure group for therapists. She is passionate about working with BIPOC communities specifically children, family, and adolescent populations. She currently lives in Santa Fe and is happiest exploring the outdoors with her daughter and husband.

Dr. Reshma Kamal
Therapist

Dr. Reshma Kamal is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of New Mexico (2013). Her academic journey began with an Ed.M. in Counseling Psychology from Columbia University Teacher's College in New York. With years of experience at City University of New York, and previous roles as a school Counselor in New York and Santa Fe, Dr. Kamal brings a wealth of expertise to her work.

Growing up in diverse cultures and speaking English, French, Spanish, and Urdu/Hindi, Dr. Kamal uniquely understands cross-cultural issues and healing approaches. She skillfully blends Eastern and Western philosophies, fostering a comprehensive approach to therapy.

Dr. Kamal moved to Santa Fe New Mexico in 2008. Since then, she has worked as a Mental Health Clinician with children and families, and with individuals from many walks of life.   In her work, she focuses on the interconnectedness of individuals and their environments, believing that self-healing is key to helping others. 

Dr. Kamal's approach is rooted in recognizing one's own strengths and weaknesses to harness the strength in others. Her goal is to look at the whole picture, acknowledging the environment and family roots that shape us.
